In Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Baxter Stockboy is a Stock & Shop stock boy and an obscure internet celebrity. He is a recurring adversary of the Mad Dogs.

Physical appearance[]

Baxter Stockboy is a young black boy with curly black hair styled in a flat top fade, a large head, black eyes, dark brown skin, and a thin figure. He has yet to be seen in civilian clothes, but for work he wears a white button up and a red apron, khaki pants, black and white sneakers, an orange bow tie, and a pair of black rectangular glasses.

Personality[]

Baxter has a habit of begging his fans for subscriptions and donations because his parents, who run the store he works at, the Stock & Shop, don't give him any form of compensation. He is willing to pull a hoax to get subscribers; a practice that was frowned upon by Leonardo, Michelangelo, and April O'Neil.

Baxter has a flair for the dramatic as he creates thrilling hoaxes and theories for his viewers to watch. He is also quite creative, the majority of his content on his video-sharing channel being food can sculptures of forts, recreations of famous monuments, and towers he constructs himself.

History[]

Baxter debuted in "The Gumbus". During April and the Turtles' exploration of the Stock & Shop, he attempted to frighten Leo with a mop, but was discovered by him. He began to vlog about the history of The Gumbus ghost before he was captured by what appeared to be the ghost itself. His soul now apparently confined inside of a frozen turkey, Baxter approached April and the Turtles in his new form and told them that in order to be rid of the Gumbus they would need to recreate Baxter's Lady Liberty food can stack. Baxter scared the three of them throughout the store using a robot he constructed to appear as the Gumbus. Due to April weaponizing salami, his ruse on her and the Turtles came to an end and Baxter was ejected from his nearly destroyed robot. After he was teased by them, he vowed to enact revenge for ruining his hoax and attempted to attack them with grocery store food shelves, but was interrupted by his parents arriving on the scene.

Baxter reappeared in "Al Be Back" as he gave the remaining head of Albearto a remote controlled car to travel in in exchange for a dance machine cheat in Albearto's.

In "The Mutant Menace", Baxter complied footage of the Turtles' adventures and livestreamed it. He was later invited onto Channel 6 to further report on the Turtles' well-intentioned actions gone awry, framing them as being malicious. Utilizing his Micro-Bots, Baxter overrode the Turtle Tank remotely from the Stock & Shop blimp. He then hacked into the LED billboards and screens of Times Square to advertise the unveiling of the identities behind the Mutant Menace at New York City Hall and his pay-to-watch livestream. He fled the blimp via parachute after Donatello struck it with bowling balls and arrived at New York City Hall before a crowd to reveal the Mutant Menace to the public. Baxter was unable to convince the crowd that the Turtles were real and that they were also at the courthouse and was sent to kid genius jail for his perceived hoax.

Baxter was a contestant in the New York City underground drone race in "Breaking Purple" along with S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N. and the Purple Dragons, but lost to Donnie.

Abilities[]

  • Genius intellect: Despite his young age, Baxter seems to be a remarkably gifted technologist and inventor. He presumably built the robotic Gumbus single-handedly and was able to manipulate the interior of the Stock & Stop via remote and was able to engineer his robot with telekinetic abilities to mimic a ghost.

Relationships[]

Family[]

  • Baxter Stockboy's parent(s)
    • Mother: Baxter's mother seems to be somewhat strict with him, upset when he doesn't come home on time in "The Gumbus".
    • Father: Baxter's father arrived at the Stock & Shop alongside Baxter's mother to bring him home when he didn't return on time.

Friends and allies[]

  • Albearto: Little is known about Baxter's relationship with Albearto, but he seemed willing to repair Albearto's head in exchange for a video game cheat code in "Al Be Back". He must know as of Albearto's previous conflict with the Mad Dogs that they both have a grudge against them and any enemy of the Turtles and April is so far a friend and/or ally of Baxter.

Enemies[]

  • The Mad Dogs: Baxter seeks revenge against the Mad Dogs for making fun of him and preventing him from gaining online fame and money by confiscating his recorded footage of him terrorizing them with his Gumbus robot.
    • Leonardo: Baxter scared Leo with the Gumbus, but was later found out by him.
    • Michelangelo: Baxter was initially happy to meet a fan of his, but was frustrated when Mikey told him he hasn't donated to him despite often watching his videos.
    • April O'Neil: Baxter's Gumbus robot was destroyed by April's makeshift bow and arrow in "The Gumbus".
    • Donatello: Baxter's Stock & Shop blimp was damaged by Donnie using bowling balls in "The Mutant Menace".

Quotes[]

  • "It all goes back to ancient times: 1987! I'll spare you the gory details." ("The Gumbus")
  • "Subscribe and donate to my livestream to witness the spectacle. Or see it in person, if you dare." ("The Mutant Menace")
  • "A fire rages. A canary flees for its life. A Maltese is trapped in concrete. What do these tragedies have in common? The horrible villains called the Mutant Menace!" ("The Mutant Menace")

Trivia[]

  • This is the first incarnation of Baxter Stockman to be depicted as a young child (outside of flashbacks), rather than as an adult.
    • Additionally, this version of Stockman is younger than April and the Turtles, unlike his counterparts from previous series, who were all older than the Turtles and April.
  • Baxter's last name in this version could be a reference to a running gag from the 2012 TV series, wherein the Turtles would refer to Baxter Stockman by a different incorrect name each time they encountered him, including "Dexter Stockboy" on one occasion.
  • This version of Baxter still invented his other iterations' iconic Mousers in "The Mutant Menace", though he referred to them as his "Micro-Bots".
  • It was revealed in November 2020 by Rise of the TMNT staff writer Russ Carney in a Tweet that Baxter's character design was inspired by that of Looney Tunes character Egghead Jr.[1][2]
  • It was confirmed in August 2021 by Rise of the TMNT staff writer Carney in a Tweet that Baxter was trying to monetize his content in order to save up to attend "Evil Genius College, or something like that."[3]
