TMNT 2012 Crognard the Barbarian

Crognard The Barbarian

Crognarg The Barbarian is a fictional cartoon series and the Turtles new favorite show in the 2012 TV series' third season. It's an homage to the 80's cartoons Thundarr The Barbarian and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. It airs on Channel 3.

Description

Crognard the Barbarian portrays the fictional adventures of Crognard and his friends on an alien planet full of strange creatures and terrible monsters.

History

Within the Woods - April, Casey and the Turtles, except for Leo, are watching the Slug People episode. Crognard charges to battle against the Slug People even though they seem to be kind creatures. The next night the lights go off and Mikey can't finish watching an episode.

The Croaking - Crognard rides his lizard into battle to save Wizardess from a Giant Mountain Demon, Michelangelo gets too excited by the episode and destroys the living room.

Characters

Much like in Space Heroes and SRMFF! each of the main characters in the cartoon represent one of the series characters.

Main Characters

  • Crognard: The title character of the series. A quite stupid barbarian warrior and a parody of Thundarr the Barbarian, who always blindly plunges into a possible conflict. Uses a magical thunder sword (based on Thundarrs sunsword). (Voiced by Brian Bloom)
  • Wizardess: The deputy female person in Crognards team. She has various, unspecified magical powers, including a sense of danger, which did not, however, work reliably. She is a parody of Princess Ariel, a character from Thundarr. (Voiced by Mae Whitman)
  • Spooch: An anxious flying creature, probably modeled after the character Slimer from the Ghostbusters franchise. It is often abused by Crognard and his comrades as a living weapon or bait. (Voiced by Scott Menville)
  • Graah: A muscular humanoid alien, whose snake-like head is in a sort of glass helmet. His name derives from his growl that is his only known vocabulary. Graah is a parody of the Thundarr figure Ookla the Mok. (Voiced by Nolan North)

Trivia

  • The studio that producers Crognard the Barbarian, is called Auman Murakami Enterprises, Inc. This name refers to Brandon Auman, a script writer of the TMNT series, and Murakami-Wolf studios which produced the 1987 TV series.
  • A possible inspiration for the name of the series is the fictional comic Grognak the Barbarian (which itself is a parody of Conan the Barbarian is) from the Fallout video game series (Fallout 3 and FO: New Vegas).
