Hey, sorry I've taken so long to reply. I'm planning to fork Turtle Arena as a new game (Extraordinary Beat X) without the Ninja Turtles. I haven't decided what happens to Turtle Arena after that, might stop working on it completely or just keep the code up to date with game engine stuff I'm doing.
woah, haven't look at my talk page in a while and just saw this message. so, you plan to transfer to EBX w/o the turtles? how would that work in terms of characters? btw, been trying to use blender to tweak with the models and been having trouble with the md3 files. been looking all over for a blender md3 import, but couldn't find an up-to-date one. what'd you use?
Some character info: google docs spreadsheet I'll try to get more stuff online soon (game design document, some character concept drawings).
For models I used Wings 3D (create meshes and UV maps, export to .obj) and Maverick Model 3D (import .obj, animate players / convert to .md3). There are various .wings and .mm3d source files. Some sphere models were made in MM3D and saved to MD3 directly. When editing player meshes, I used Wings and then re-imported and re-attached all vertexes to skeleton in MM3D. It's a very tedious and time consuming workflow to make mesh changes to players...
In the future I intend to use Blender for modeling and animation, then export to IQM for use in-game. Blender IQM exporter: http://lee.fov120.com/iqm/ (though, IQM support is broken (maybe non-existant) in Turtle Arena 0.6.x.)
btw, I'm connected to IRC basically all the time, so don't feel like I'm ignoring you when I don't reply right away. If you stay connected to IRC I'll reply eventually.
woah, the design work is much further along than i thought! nice job! i'm intrigued with the new ideas! once i better skilled at C/++, you wouldn't mind if i kind of adopt it when you're done, would you?
Thanks. I think as long I'm maintaining the closely related Spearmint / EBX, I'll probably keep updating Turtle Arena's code too. If you want to join making content and game-design changes to TA that's cool, it's probably in the best interest of the game.
Probably worth writing out and/or discussing what we want the game to be, so compromises can be made and whatnot. If you're interested.
