New Line Cinema is a motion picture production company founded in 1967 by Robert Shaye (Bob Shaye) and Michael Lynne as a film distributor, later becoming an independent film studio. It was acquired by Turner in 1994, then became a subsidiary of Time Warner (now called Warner Bros. Discovery) after Time Warner bought Turner in 1996 and was merged with larger sister studio Warner Bros. Pictures in 2008 because the box office failure of The Golden Compass in 2007. Popular franchises under the studios umbrella include Austin Powers, A Nightmare on Elm Street, House Party, Friday the 13th films, Rush Hour, Blade and The Lord of The Rings trilogy. New Line Cinema produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and it's sequels Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III.
