The Pizza Monsters are alien creatures from Dimension X appearing the 1987 TV series episode "The Case of the Killer Pizzas".
History[]
Given to Shredder by Krang to help him defeat the Turtles, the Pizza Monsters are born from meatball-like eggs that hatch when exposed to sufficient amounts of energy. As juveniles they are red and small, about the size of a cat, with the ability to raise their body temperature high enough to burn through walls, However, when they come into contact with water, they quickly grow into their adult forms which are yellow and stand around twelve feet tall.
As per Shredder's plan, Baxter Stockman planted three eggs onto pizzas meant for the Turtles. However, one was given to April while the other two were taken by a delivery boy to fill another order. Using a specially constructed remote, Baxter took control of the creatures and sent them to attack the Turtles, only to lose control when Donatello knocked the remote into the sewer drain. Though the instructions provided by Krang said that a larger energy burst could turn them back into eggs, the Turtles and Shredder were briefly forced to team up against them until Leonardo severed an underground power line, electrocuting the monsters and reversing their growth. Afterwards, the Turtles took custody of the eggs though it was suggested Michaelangelo had mixed them up with regular meatballs.
Trivia[]
- The monsters themselves highly resemble yellow versions of the "Xenomorphs" from the sci-fi horror film series Alien. A similar parody is found in the Squirrelanoids from the 2012 TV series, although, according to Ciro Nieli's The Art of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the Squirrelanoids were inspired directly by the Pizza Monsters.
