Because the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures comic books published by Archie Comics originally began as a loose adaptation of the 1987 animated series, Rocksteady had similar origins to his animated counterpart.

In the three-issue miniseries that adapted the first five episodes of the cartoon, Rocksteady was once again a human punk working for the Shredder who was mutated into a rhinoceros while his partner Bebop became a warthog.

Rocksteady was also featured in the ongoing Adventures series' first two issues, which adapted the cartoon episode Return of the Shredder.

Once the series stopped adapting episodes of the animated series and started publishing its own stories, Rocksteady and Bebop were both returned to being the Shredder's henchmen and assisted him in his schemes.

Eventually, Krang, Shredder, Bebop, and Rocksteady made an attempt to find the Turnstone and use it to defeat the Turtles once and for all, but were thwarted when Cherubae took the Turnstone and used it to banish the four villains to places where they would cause no more harm.

Bebop and Rocksteady in Eden World

Rocksteady and Bebop were both sent to one of Dimension X's Eden Worlds, where they ended up naked and free to live as the animals they were at heart.

A brief story arc had Rocksteady and Bebop recruited by Krang, Slash, and Bellybomb in an attempt to once again defeat the Turtles. Once arriving on Earth, the two mutant thugs robbed from a clothing store and a gun store to get clothes similar to their original uniforms and some guns.

After the battle that ensued, Slash got away, but Krang and Bellybomb were defeated and Leonardo was able to convince Rocksteady and Bebop to send Bellybomb and Krang back to the prison planet Morbus.

After doing as Leonardo requested, Rocksteady and Bebop returned to their Eden World, removed their clothes, and resumed living their lives together in peace.

Rocksteady and Bebop never appeared again during TMNT Adventures' main run, aside from a flashback cameo in the comic's 45th issue, which retold the origin of the Turtles and retconned some elements of it.

Rocksteady and Bebop reappeared in the minicomic Paper or Plastic?.
