Plot[]

In the Turtle Lair, Michelangelo is standing on scales, revealing that all the unhealthy pizza he's been eating has been causing him to put on weight. Splinter decides that Michelangelo needs to practice some self-discipline, and puts him on a diet. Michelangelo suddenly starts floating, followed soon by the other Turtles and Splinter.

Down in the Technodrome, the reason for the sudden floating is revealed; Krang has invented a gravity-altering device that Shredder plans to use to make New York City obey him. Shredder increases the anti-gravity potency to go beyond the subterranean level, despite Krang's protests that it's not perfected yet.

At the Channel 6 Building, Irma is gushing over a new boyfriend who she claims sweeps her off her feet. Suddenly, the anti-gravity affects her and April, sending them, Vernon, and Burne airborne. Burne immediately blames the Turtles, but April defends them. She then uses her Turtlecom to contact the Turtles, who confirm the same thing is happening to them. Leonardo's guess is that it has something to do with Shredder and Krang.

Down in the Technodrome, Shredder boosts the power further, but this ends up causing an overload that damages the Gravity Alteration Device and shuts down the anti-gravity field, which causes everyone at Channel 6 to crash to the floor again. The Turtles have crashed as well, and are now convinced that Shredder has something to do with the crazy gravity. They set out to discover what's going on. Krang is furious at Shredder for the overload, but Shredder insists on doing some "emergency repairs."

Two hours later, the Turtles are driving around in the Turtle Van, looking for the source of the screwed-up gravity, but finding nothing. Raphael suggests they give up, saying they've been driving around for two hours and found nothing. Michelangelo, however, points out a weird radiation coming from the road ahead, which turns out to be a hyper-gravity field. The Van goes out of control and flips over, and, while upside down, the turtles can see the hyper-gravity field is affecting everything else too: lamp posts bending over, trashcans compressing themselves, and buses being deformed. Leonardo claims that whatever's radiating from beneath the street has the whole city in danger.

Down in the Technodrome, Shredder is pleased with the results of his repairs, and sends Bebop, Rocksteady, and a pair of Foot Soldiers up to the surface, wearing special anti-gravity boots that render them immune to the hyper-gravity. After crashing through a ladies' dress shop in the Transport Module, they set out to find the Turtles, who soon see them coming, but are helpless to do anything about it.

Donatello, however, quickly discovers that the source of their free movement is the boots they're wearing, and when Rocksteady enters the Turtle Van to deal with them, they manage to trip him up and steal his boots. They get the boots on Michelangelo and tells him to go out and get more. Michelangelo ends up tricking the two Foot Soldiers that came with them to blast one another and takes their boots.

Back in the Turtle Van, Donatello spots birds flying around, not being affected at all by the gravity. This gives him the idea to get to the Turtle Blimp so they can fly too. Michelangelo returns with the four boots he claimed, and through a boot-sharing setup made by Donatello, all the turtles can now walk more or less freely.

Shredder, realizing that Bebop and Rocksteady failed, decides to take matters into his own hands, putting on his own pair of anti-gravity boots and taking his own module to the surface. He spots the Turtles in their Turtle Blimp, and, refusing to be outwitted, sets the gravity alteration device to "super reverse gravity," which soon in sending everything airborne, even buildings.

The Turtles manage to save the Channel 6 Building from floating away by anchoring it to another building, then they borrow the Channel 6 Satellite Dish and head for the source of the reverse gravity. Using the satellite dish to fire the reverse gravity back at the device, they "reverse the reverse gravity" and bring everything back down.

Krang, however, turns up the power on the Gravity Alteration Device further, nearly overloading the satellite dish. The reverse gravity hitting the reverse gravity, however, ultimately winds up reversing the gravity on the gravity alteration device, which causes it to go flying into the air and knocking Raphael off the Turtle Glider, though Donatello saves him with his staff. Realizing that Raphael fell down instead of up, the turtles note that gravity is back to normal. Michelangelo, unable to hold the satellite dish on his own, ends up dropping it, and it shatters on impact with the ground.

Bebop and Rocksteady, who were sent airborne by the super reverse gravity, end up falling from the sky and landing on Shredder. Realizing they were foiled, Shredder, Bebop, and Rocksteady run for the Module. The Turtles pursue them but arrive too late as they escape back to the Technodrome, leaving behind lava burning Michelangelo and Raphael's feet in the process.

Later, in the Turtle Lair, Donatello finishes repairing the broken satellite dish. April shows her gratitude with a kiss, but before she can do the same for Leonardo and Raphael, Michelangelo comes through with a stack of pizzas. When Splinter reminds him of his diet, Michelangelo points out that he just spent the whole day lighter than air and was just going to make sure he'd never float away again.

Notes and errors[]

  • Rocksteady separates from Bebop when he attempts to finish of the Turtles in the Turtlevan but Bebop is later seen in the van after the Turtles leave for the Turtle Blimp.
  • When April's Turtlecom falls out of her pocket it is shaped like the Turtles' standard model.
  • When Irma smashes the photo of her date after the gravity changes, the shards fall to the ground rather than rising upwards.
  • One of the Foot Soldiers briefly had pupils in its eyes when it was melting from the laser fire caused by the other soldier.
  • When Bebop and Rocksteady and the Foot Soldiers are preparing to head to the surface in the Transport Module, a rocky background could be seen behind them before switching to the Technodrome module tube room when the mutants leave.
  • When the Turtles tether the Channel 6 building after it's broken from its foundations, a shot of the building on its normal spot can be seen when the Turtles check to see if April and Irma are OK.
  • The strapping around Donatello's bo is colored grey when Raphael holds onto it after falling off the Turtle Blimp after gravity is restored.
  • When Shredder and Krang are at the Technodrome, Krang's android body hands are flesh colored and not red.
  • When Michelangelo and Raphael stepped in the lava, their feet were not burnt.
  • When Leonardo struggles at the Turtle Blimp to reach the source of the anti-gravity force, Donatello is seen with Raphael's colors.
  • When Raphael and Michelangelo shoot the satellite dish at the ground, Raphael is seen with Michelangelo's nunchuks.
  • Just before the buildings lift up, Donatello is piloting the Turtle Blimp, but the entire episode, Leonardo pilots the Turtle Blimp.
  • Despite wearing the antigravity boots throughout most of the episode, Bebop is still affected by the gravitational changes.
