    • Well, it seems the writers are trolling their viewers. April is the reigning queen of mixed signals. :)

I didn't like this newest episode, because it was not only a lame episode, but now people will be shipping Donnie and April again - BUT HE HAS NO CHANCE. She cares about him, but only as a friend.

Yes,i was so angry,April is such a manipulative jerk.

    • I've talked about this before on an older thread, but I think April is a lot more complicated than this, because she can sense other people's minds to some degree. Maybe Casey and Donnie's feelings have never been much of a mystery to her. Maybe she can sense their baggage as much as their virtues, and they both regularly endear and irritate her. And it may have been why Irma was her best friend for a whole year—either April couldn't sense her (which could have made April feel more ordinary), or April could only sense what Kraang Prime wanted her to sense.

I really hope Donatello will be over with his crush on April, but if you ask me,Donatello was showing hints to be suffering Limerence, than just a simple teenage crush.

And because of his obsessive crush on April,a LOT of people hate the 2012 Donatello, and this is a bit sad.(But i will be honest,i also don't like this version of Don,sorry)

She was more concerned with finding Raph... All I'm saying, is go back and watch the show again, you see she clearly likes Jones. Donnie makes her uncomftorable throughout most of it -- why would she like the guy who makes her feel weird and awkward as opposed to the guy who she gets along with really well. She cares for Donnie, ofcourse she does, but I doubt its romantic in nature.

        Loading editor
    • She may feel more awkward around Donnie because she thinks he has more delicate feelings than Casey and she may care more about Don's feelings than Casey's. Casey has more experience in the human world and can be flirted with a little without his hopes getting up too much. Don is a delicate recluse so April doesn't want to mess with her fragile heart unless she knows for sure she wants to be with him. Another reason is, well, he's a mutant turtle, some feelings of awkwardness are expected.

I wonder if the NICK.com posts with Apritello are suppose to hint that it will happen. I am a capril fan and that kiss got me at first assuming she's going for Donnie. Then I read other people's opinions who were unbiased and they felt that it was out of nowhere and that she did it probably to cheer him up. So I'm a little more happy, but these Apritello fans are so into it and gloating I think it will happen. I wish there were some facts or some of those supposed quotes people were talking about from the first comic con for tmnt 2012 that had someone say the crush was played purely for laughs. Then someone stated in fact that Casey and April are endgame, but that person 'lost' the source. I want this love triangle to either end with Capril or single April cuz I just want Casey to have more story to him.

    • Honestly, I'm supportive of both ships. Here's why:

Apritello: First off there's the kiss. Secondly, dunno. It feels like if he was less obsessive they'd make a pretty cute couple (maybe if it happens they'll tone that down a bit? Because let's face it, he was practically stalking her when she left in my opinion. XD Maybe he'll stop if they become a couple?)

Capril: It's less akward and feels a little less, pushed I guess? To me he doesn't seem as obsessive as Donnie is (unless you count The invasion part 1).

Part of me says I want her to turn both of them down so they'll stop fighting, but I can doubt that now for so many reasons.

The funny thing though is that my mom doesn't even pay attention to TMNT, yet she walked into our room when April kissed Donnie in A foot too big and she had this whole rant about how weird it was saying that it doesn't matter how much Donnie cares about her, it's weird. Coming from the woman who says not to get over dramatic when something happens in a cartoon and says it doesn't matter how you look. In other words: She shot me down after I went on about it to my sis (I just had to get it out, I think it just went over her head. LOL). I guess, like a lot of people, I just want April to choose.

I support both ships as well. However, I probably would support the Apritello ship more if Don's crush wasn't as obsessive. Also, I just want April to choose if she wants to be with Donnie, Casey, or neither of them. Romance is not as big a part of the show as action, comedy, and the main plot with Shredder and Kraang.

What photo??And shiping April with Don at the end would be very risky for Nick, this you can be sure. But since the crazy fangirls are threatening if April dont ends with Don they will stop watching the series, then Nick maybe is forced to make Apriltello happen,Nick is getting threat notes of the insane fangirls of this ship.

    • doesn't the show have the whole stories planned out in advance? And I doubt Nick listens to threatening notes. On the Nick site for TMNT theres a slideshow of pictures stating differences between living in the city and then in the woods. They have a split picture entitled Donnie and April where one is a picture is when april kissed donnie on the cheek when he found the cure for Kirby and its titled, 'Donnie and April in the city' while the next picture is the kiss from the bigfoot episode entitled 'Donnie and April in the woods'. Haven't people stated that threats from fangirls does nothing. Especially on nick. Uh, how would Donnie ending up with April be risky?I ask out of curiosity. And again I just really hope they don't go that route or at the very least have april be single. I really like Casey and I want him to be happy. No offense to Donnie, but I think losing April to him would probably really depress and embarass Casey. At least Donnie would understand and has his brothers to help cope.

    • Did anybody consider it beastiality when Leo and Radical hooked up in Tales of the TMNT? The Turtles are not beasts. They are sentient humanoid lifeforms. Disregarding Venus, there are no females of their species, so give 'em a break.

Tell this to those people, and dont start this hopeless argument,ok,for many people it is beastiality.

    • It's called inter-species romance, happens all the time in Star Trek with half-klingons and half-vulcans resulting from it and becoming major characters.

April and Don are also both examples of it. April is half-human and half-Kraang while Don is half-human half-Turtle.

Don is not a 'beast', that is a term for animals who are savage, uncivilized.

    • Well, Sugilita, I don't know how old you are or a lot of the other users are. But I'm well into my 30s now. And as late as when I was a teenager, many people still thought it unacceptable for people of different skin colors to be in love. They likened it to bestiality too, and they even thought it was gross or an abomination. Now that I'm almost middle-aged, I must assert that there is no legitimacy in such a belief, and it has no place in polite discussion. People are going to believe what they're going to believe, but that doesn't mean I won't call our their bigotry for doing so, because ultimately there is no difference in those kinds of discrimination. All that matters is that if someone is sentient and especially if they have feelings, they're a person—full stop. :)

That said, there's also an in-universe consideration. There are only five mutant turtles known to exist in-universe, and they are all male, and all but one of them are related to each other. And by all appearances, they have the same social drives and instincts as humans. Though fictional, they still serve as hypothetical thought experiments with applications in the real world. If they seek a love life, their only options are going to be interspecies or incest. (And even Spike/Slash is a different species of turtle from the other turtles.) Could you honestly tell such a person that they must never be allowed to have any sort of mature love life because they're a different species from every other non-incestuous option? Just because of other people's potential disgust towards such a relationship?

And another consideration: 2012 TMNT isn't the only TMNT universe. The others have had characters having romantic relationships with other characters of different species, up to and including the following adult intimate relationships: Leonardo with Radical, Michelangelo with Sara (third base), Michelangelo with Seri, Raphael with Ninjara, and April with Casey (though they didn't find out April wasn't human until they were already married), just to name the ones that come to the top of my head. April and Casey had been trying in vain to have children before she found out, and Seri actually managed to lay eggs after her rendezvous with Mike. I think the ship has long since sailed on TMNT multiverse interspecies love. :)

    • Gilgamesh, my ignorance of the comics leads me to wonder, with the breadth of this wiki, if we might develope some kind of 'relationships' category of pages for detailing these interactions so that they can be covered in detail without distracting from the main body of the individual character pages.

Some other wikis do that, like w:c:Stoked:Relationships for example. Shouldn't be that troublesome. Then it could be possible to affix some issue and page numbers to the couples you pointed out, as I am woefully ignorant of them. Closest I can remember is the Raph/Mona interaction in the original toon.

Also that sounds like a major April spoiler, gonna try to forget that :)

Any conflicts between Sara/Seri over Mike? Or Ninjara/Mona over Raph? Did Leo and Karai have no chem in preceding incarnations to lead to a Karai/Radical battle?

        Loading editor
    • Yes, I thought of the same thing too, from what I've seen at the Degrassi Wiki. They have pages not only on relationships, but on notable friendships, for which there is much fertile material in the TMNT multiverse. I actually think it's a fantastic idea, and it would help to merge duplicated family/friends bullets between the articles. Though because it's actually ambiguous (or controversial) in some cases whether a relationship was a friendship or a romance, I'd ultimately suggest keeping the article name wording the same for all those situations as well as relationships of family and enmity. (For example, there's sprinkled references that seem to indicate that Mikey still likes or respects Bradford, despite them being sworn enemies. Mikey keeping and never getting rid of the life-size cardboard cutout of Bradford in his bedroom, for instance.)

Well, Sara and Seri never met each other. Sara happened in volume 3 (when Mike was 18 and 19), and Seri happened in volume 4 (when Mike was in his 30s), and they also have the problem of being mutually non-canonical.

And I never finished reading TMNT Adventures comics (though a friend keeps prodding me to do so someday :), but I don't think Mona was in that comic, and Ninjara was certainly not in the cartoon.

Likewise, Leo and Radical only had a relationship in Mirage that was also mentioned in Image, and never had a romance with Karai in those continuities—Karai being decades older than Leo and having a teenage daughter of her own. And in the universes where Leo and Karai have had an involvement, there was no relationship with Radical. So, no entanglement there.

And the following are spoilers. Highlight the text if you want to read it, but I highly recommend you don't if you ever want to read them.
It should also be noted that all those relationships eventually ended.

Mike and Sara met in Chicago, where mutual interests led to affection and eventually getting to third base before Sara's roommate caught them and kicked him out. After Mike returned to New York, he and Sara started writing each other. Mike had fallen in love with her, and it inspired him to become a romance novel writer. He'd even succeeded in getting a book published, before Sara wrote him, gossiping about her new crush on Dragon, breaking Mike's heart. Sara was just too immature and vapid (or possibly just polyamorous), and any romance they might have hadp—never actually formally declared—was doomed from the start.

Mike and the Styracodon Regenta Seri met on Earth where Seri had come as a tourist through the Utrom Transmat. They ditched her bodyguards and toured New England on a motorcycle. Eventually they had sex, and Seri then laid eggs on the beach. But Seri's bodyguards caught and imprisoned Mike and Seri did nothing to free him. He rotted in a Styracodon prison for weeks, being starved and tortured. He eventually escaped with the help (and tragic death) of his Triceraton cellmate and friend, and was rescued that planet by a team of Triceraton commandos that had come to rescue Mike's cellmate. Mike then joined forces with the Triceratons in a war of genocide against the Styracodons, where he became an accomplice in exterminations of Styracodon civilians. Mike is driven by heartbreak, hatred and a desire to take revenge on Seri and every last Styracodon. That's as far as that story got before volume 4 was cancelled, though it gets intermittent updates in web-published issues on Peter Laird's TMNT blog. Very dark though.

Raph and Ninjara were actually living together as lovers for much of TMNT Adventures, including sharing the same bedroom and bed in the Turtle Lair. But they decided to break up in one of the last issues. The writers planned for them to get back together, but not before that comic series was cancelled.

And Radical...was killed. Radical was actually a mortal human Native American woman from the Southwest, and actually nothing like her Transdimensional TMNT stats—those were non-canonically invented on the spot by Palladium Books staff. The Tales V2 issue "Swan Song" is about Leo and Radical's relationship and true love, Radical's sudden death, and Leo struggling hard for the rest of his life to deal with what happened as he never stopped loving her.

    • Come to think of it I probably should avoid them and just get around to reading the comics, but I do appreciate the explanation so I can come study this later when I finally do.

The benefit to 'relationship' being used in the title is that it covers a breadth of things including friendships, romances, rivalries, etc.

Merging the bullet points would be great, it guarantees that the same thing is said, and the subsections can just link to the relationship page to help de-clutter individual character articles.

    • Wow. I must commendGilgameshkun in his dedication writing all that... (btw, cool nickname. Agatha Heterodyne, right?)

To go back to the Donatello/April/Casey love triangle, I just want to say... This is my favorite incarnation of Donatello, ever, and his so-called "obsessiveness" towards April doesn't alter this status... in fact, I think you might be overreacting. The worse he did is remembering how many blocks he was from April's house (and he is genius with prodigal memory so...) and try -in a very socially-awkward fail- to make amends with April in season 2. They were both done for humour purposes and were not meant to be taken seriously, guys.

As for shipping: in season 1, I was all for Apritello. They were cute and it had its moments (April jealous of Karai, anyone?) and the thought of Casey showing up made me pity Donnie. Then we met Casey and I fell in love with the character as well. At this point, I'd be okay with April chosing Casey, I think there's potential there. But now they seem to be pushing Apritello again so, that is actually pretty cool too! (chosing the nerd for a change...) I'm open to development in either direction.

But to be quite honest, I think it's pretty non-defined at this point. Maybe April is now leaning towards Donnie; maybe she just liked teasing Casey; maybe she's struggling with the choice, or preoccupied by consequences, or was never interested in being a love interest. It's, I think, a problem with April's development as character, really. You can't understand her position because there's no space in the show for that, so she's kinda two dimensional now. And you -the audience- don't get it, what's the hold-up? And I think that's what's irking the fans... I'd go as far as saying she's been a big neglected lately, and with Karai out of the picture and Irma being a robot... I think the writers may be working under the impression that fans do not want to see more of April or any other female character. And that'd be a step back, people! (I do hope they redeem themselves in these next seasons - especially looking forwards Renet! And anything like the first season plots.)

    • MonaLizard: No, an improvised nickname used on IRC and wikis. I chose "Gilgamesh" after the character from Final Fantasy V, and added -kun when I found it already registered. I'm simply "Gilgamesh" on Wikipedia.

Anyway, I've mentioned this before, but I think April is more complicated because of her Kraang empathy. It has to be remarkably isolating for her to so easily sense certain people's minds when the reverse is not true. She can't sense everyone's intentions (Irma was opaque to her and Karai was able to lie to her), but it seems she can read both Donnie and Casey's feelings and intentions like a book. And knowing she's an empath, it's almost certain that Donnie also suspects this. People learn to be polite and don't always say what they notice of each other, and it just happens that April can sense even more than most people. And if she were to actually say what she senses, it could potentially be very humiliating to Donnie and Casey, and potentially permanently alter or damage their friendship.

This is why I think April is always being so ambiguous.

I think Casey is far more open about his feelings and keeps trying to shoehorn their time together into a date, and April politely humors him. Now that they're all actually friends, I think this is normal for April and Casey, and that it's simply easier to keep humoring him than to express her disinterest.

Donnie always tries (and largely fails) to be more subtle, and is far more reluctant to liken his time together with April as dating, even if there is genuine UST involved. Problem is, Donnie overthinks and overattempts everything, and comes across as very high-strung and awkward. But the way he feels about April has never been a mystery to her...or anyone else, really—you don't have to be an empath to read him.

While Casey boldly keeps trying to claim a relationship with her (that's actually pretty rude and rather comically unattractive of him), Donnie is actually trying harder to earn her, and actually became most attractive to her when he expressed personal vulnerability while expressing respect for her wishes. It's not that I think April wants Donnie to be weaker to her—April already knows how he really feels. But she wants Donnie to be most straightforward honest with her, since they have already long since formed a psychological bond. I think April wants to see more of that side of Donnie—that is "her mutant" whom she can feel closest to, and not the try-hard Donnie who keeps trying to impress her with showy achievements.

I think, even in the Mirage continuity, if Donatello had actually wanted April (which he never expressed), and Casey had never had his own opportunities to mature and mellow during the City at War arc, it would probably have been Donnie who ended up with April. From the first time April and Donnie met, they were always the most mentally compatible. Though, of course, Donnie was always Peter Laird's favorite turtle, and PL personally disliked interspecies relationships on principle, though later allowed other Mirage staff to canonically write the human Radical as Leo's lover and soul mate, and the Styracodon Seri as Mikey's one-night stand (and she even laid his eggs afterward). But Donnie was PL's, and as long as PL had final creative control, nothing happened to Donnie that PL didn't like. And since there were no other non-family turtles Donnie could become involved with, Mirage Donatello was permanently single. But...Peter Laird doesn't have creative control anymore, does he now? :) He sold his rights. And Donatello's character development is finally being explored in more complex ways than the strictly limited formula PL had allowed.

I bet that you really dislike Peter Laird but i agree with him,TMNT is not about romance,TMNT is about family bonding and friendship.

    • Sugilita: I don't actually dislike Peter Laird—there are tons of things I like about him—I just don't agree 100% with him on everything. And I should point out that Peter Laird didn't necessarily seem to oppose romance in the story—just, for some reason, interspecies romances.

But I'm afraid there is already a segment of the audience that likes TMNT's various romances, and would find it less interesting now if relationships became downplayed. That ship sailed not just with the 2k12 series, but also with volume 1's City at War (Casey and Gabrielle, Casey and April), Archie (Raph and Ninjara, and possibly Bebop and Rocksteady), volume 3 (Mikey and Sara, and finally Raph and Pimiko), volume 4 (Shadow and her boyfriend (forgot his name), Mikey and Seri) and Tales volume 2 (Leo and Radical). You don't have to like romances, and that's perfectly alright. :) But the appeal is not exactly going to go away and vanish from the story now that it's become a part of the tradition for so many years. TMNT without romance elements would seem...incomplete now.

And, I should reemphasize, please do be nice.

I was never being impolite, and Peter stated many, many times that he dont like human/turtle romance. And what is your opinion about the Super Turtles and do you have a favorite?

    • (As for impoliteness, I only meant implying I didn't like Peter Laird. If I didn't like him and it was relevant, I'd say so. :) It just seems improper to talk about disliking other real people.)

And yes, that's what I meant—interspecies romance—I just don't ever recall him opposing same-species romances.

Anyway, I have no opinion on the Super Turtles whatsoever—not really my interest.

    • with Casey and Don having undergone so much bonding in that automobile racer episode (epic tribute to 1st live film with the ABC stuff) to the point where Raph and April are actually JEALOUS of them (April losing attention from her admirers, Raph losing his brother and friend) maybe they would be content to share her? *insert April cloning*

    • As much as I love Donnie, I want him to be with April.  Casey needs a girl with a matching personality and an insane love for hockey.  I can't wait for an episode where Donnie completely confesses his love for April and she falls for him too!  APRITELLO FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!

    • wouldn't "Aprillo" work? I think Donatello is the only character with double-Ls at the end, since Michelangelo only has 1.

Shipping nicknames are generally improvised. In the Star Fox shipping fandom, Fox+Falco is often called Falox in English, but ファルフォ (Falfo) in Japanese, and I'll recognize either one. So when it comes to Apritello, I'll recognize "Aprillo" no less. Use whichever terms feel comfortable to you. :)

    • I think we should set aside some time from worrying about who April gets and worry more about bringing back Derp and who is the perfect match for her.

    • In the last few episodes (and yes, I know they've had other stuff to focus on), but the relationship seems to be losing steam in my eyes. He's shown a little interest in a couple episodes, but since Vision Quest when he worried over leaving April and Casey alone, something seems to have changed. Is it just because of all the breaks between episodes that is causing this or am I just imagining things? (in all fairness, the romance seems to be taking a backseat for Casey and April too, although we saw *that* look go between them in Serpent Hunt). Thoughts?

To be honest, I think the series is probably going to focus more on the story rather on who April is going to end up with, I don't mind the whole Donatello x April or Casey x April but I think that the series is probably going to go for the latter rather than the former because of continuity from the previous works but who knows I could be wrong lol

yeah it was. to me casey and april relationship is forced. we spent ALLLLLL this time letting april and donnie bond SOOO much that when casey came, they should've tried to put them together slowly. it can start out as friends but all i saw were random outburts of flirting like cmon. that's forced. donnie and april been through alot together and in reality if those two were real teenagers in the real world it'll make more sense for them to get together. casey and april they'll flirt one minutre, don't realize they exist the next. the writers had plenty of window of opprotunites to put april and casey together in some way shape or form so they can bond. in the invasion episode when leo said grab a ship and pair up, who did april go with? DONNIE. the writers could've put april and casey in the ship so why didn't they? In the space arc, april goes with donnie to tour the first planet together, april cared way more about donnie's safety, nursed him back to health, hell even kissed him a few times. hello casey still exists. so by this time, if april and casey randomly get together it'll be forced cause it's like they've been dating off screen when clearly april likes spending time with donnie thats a fact on this show.

Honestly, I did shipped April and Leo at first, but that was when I didn't start watching TMNT2012 yet(only bcuz the team leader should kinda have a girl to be with) but then after I started watching it from season 1, where it seems that Donnie do have a cursh on April, obv. I kinda started letting go my first ship, because I know that their ship won't kinda happen("but who knows?" My past self said.) so Apritello became a backup ship of mine, kinda waited for leo and april moments lol. I shipped them but at the bottom of my ship list, cuz of Karai. But then episodes passes, I liked more of the idea of Apritello being together, I can see how nice it is how Donnie care for April different than the other turtles do. He love her, not only a simple liking(crush). That is when I began shipping them continuesly(or however they spell it), and the thing is. .I agree that some people think that April already know Donnie's feelings towards him and and so do Casey. But its just that its not that kind of thing she wants to take care for now, because of the situation they're having, she probably wants time, b4 she can officially let out her feelings. Well, for AprilxCassie. . .Honestly they're are now the 2nd backup ship. Cassie is a good guy, but yeah I agree to @KunokitaxD4 that Apritello's ship is much more realistic, that is why I shipped them, all the things they went through together were something. It is a fact that they were meant to be with each other, even when everything bad happened. People may state, "Hello?! Don't forget about Casey?! And the turtles. ." Ofc I won't forget that. Compared to the things she went through with it always ended different from when its about April's problem. Its always, Donnie here-Donnie that. Its obvious that the creator do make them ending up with each other in many circumstances. And Casey is somehow like a love rival for Donnie(but I think Casey doesn't really love-love her, its more like a crush). .but that's not his only role ofc. So what I meant is that, how things work between Donnie and April is different between the other turtles including Casey. They always get the part, you know. And don't forget about the episode season4-episode2 ;) and many more episodes. Its more like a ship that's having more action than any other ship. I'm only stating what I thing, my opinion. Each one of us have our own way of think of our ships. Okay, I'll just go. Yeah. .Peace~_~
